Our Impact 

Since 2023, MEWI has supported the launch of 10 new educator talent initiatives in Michigan. Collectively, MEWI supported programs reach every region in the state, impacting the educator workforce in Michigan’s urban, rural, and suburban communities.

  • More than 1600 aspiring teachers are participating

    in MEWI-operated or supported programs, including 1,200 Talent Together candidates, 135 MiEarly Apprentice candidates, and close to 100 Golden Apple Scholars 

  • Over 450 districts across the state employ

    aspiring teacher candidates enrolled in MEWI programs, including 416 districts with at least one Talent Together candidate and 42 districts participating in other MEWI initiatives or programs 

  • MEWI partners with 20 higher education

    and certifying partners across the state, including ECE credentialing partners, community colleges, degree-granting Educator Preparation Program (EPP) partners, and alternate route providers 

  • MEWI’s work is increasing the diversity of the teacher pipeline

    • Approximately 55% of MiEarly Apprentice candidates identify as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) 

    • Approximately 24% of Talent Together candidates identify as BIPOC 

    • Approximately 34% of Golden Apple scholars identify as BIPOC 

  • MEWI’s programs support retention of high-quality educators

    • Talent Together: 86% 
    • Golden Apple Scholars: 94% 
    • Surge Institute: 100% graduation rate
